Shriners Hospital Golf Event

Charity Golf Event Raises Awareness & Money for Shriners Hospitals

Local Golf Professional Turns Personal Challenge into Successful Charitable Event

Logan, UT- September 13, 2011 – PGA Golf Professional, Eric Kleven, the Birch Creek Golf Course and Cache Valley Specialty Hospital announce the 6th Annual Shriners Hospitals Charity Golf Event 4-Man Scramble.

Over the past five years, this Charity Golf Event has collectively raised and received donations of $129,000, with a record-making $40,000 being raised in 2010. This year, the event organizers have set a goal to bring $50,000 in charitable donations for the Shriners Hospitals Prosthetic and Orthotics Department in Salt Lake City.

The Shriners Hospital Golf Event was created after the daughter of PGA Golf Professional, Eric Kleven, was diagnosed with a genetic disorder called Rett Syndrome. After being misdiagnosed by doctors at other hospitals, Kleven found the help, attention and care his daughter needed at Shriners Hospitals.

“I was so grateful and impressed with the care they gave my daughter that I wanted to find a way to give back,” Kleven said, “and since I’m a PGA Professional at Birch Creek, where we host many golf events, we decided to start our own Shriners Hospitals Golf Event.”

This year’s event has many sponsors, its main sponsor being Cache Valley Specialty Hospital, who finds itself in a unique position of being a hospital, sponsoring a hospital.

“We’re involved in this event because it’s not only a good cause,” said John Worley, Cache Valley Specialty Hospital’s CEO, “but, because we believe people deserve the best health care possible, regardless of where they get it.”

The event begins at 8:30 a.m. on September 13, 2011 at Birch Creek Golf Course, with team entry fees include $900 for Bronze, $1200 for Silver and $1500 for Gold, with sponsorships available for $250 a hole; all proceeds going directly to medical care and rehabilitation programs for children.

Activities for the event include 18 Holes with Cart, Free Range Balls, Continental Breakfast, Lunch, Contests and Tee Prizes.
